Traveling to Taveuni in Fiji
Taveuni is a world renowned dive attraction for all types of divers. From Vuna Reef in the south to the coral rich sites of the Somosomo straight, the novice through to the advanced diver is catered for. The more adventurous divers can take the 20 minute boat ride across Somosomo straight to Rainbow Reef (one of the top places for Scuba Diving in Fiji), home to some of the finest dive sites the South Pacific has to offer. The reef consists of many dive sites for all levels of diver and is a must for the dive enthusiast. Rainbow Reef stretches over 32km and is easily accessible from most resorts in the Taveuni area. Vuna Reef on the southern tip of Taveuni located next to Vuna village, offers untouched soft coral dive sites for every level of diver. The water is rich in all types of sea life including sharks, turtles, rays and uncountable species of fish. Expect to see the occasional dolphin pod join you around Vuna Reef as well as the local village fishermen. Vuna Reef is serviced daily by Paradise Resort, offering top accommodation in Taveuni (a 5 minute boat ride away) and provides an idyllic setting for a full day of diving pleasure.
If your taste for adventure lends itself to the land then take a trip to one of the many beautiful outdoor spots dotted around the island. The largest park in Taveuni is Bouma National Heritage Park located on the east of the island. The park offers something for every one including picturesque rainforest mountain hikes, stunning waterfalls and unforgettable coastal walks. The park is home Mount Uluigalau, Des Voeux Peak and Lake Tagimaucia where Fiji’s national flower the Tagimaucia can be found. All trips to the attractions of Bouma require transport (easily found from resorts or local taxi’s) and a local guide is recommended to experience this unique area of the world to the fullest.
